| The purpose of the University Archives is to procure, organize, collect, describe, maintain and preserve records
that have historical and administrative value to the university and have a significant impact upon the African American experience in the Triad area. |
| |
| Overview |
| The University Archives houses a wealth of information that is available to researchers and scholars, the majority being
institutional records dating back to the late 1890's. Researchers may use the minutes, annual reports, and photographs to get an idea of how the
university has changed through the years. Other information in the collection consists of class schedules, bulletins, alumni publications, research bulletins,
student newspapers, programs, budget materials, yearbooks dating back to 1939, departmental brochures and newsletters, self-studies, faculty and staff directories,
handbooks and manuscripts. Scholars seeking information on outstanding alumni may use the materials on Jesse Jackson, Joe Dudley and Ronald McNair. Other collections
include the papers and documents of John Wray, Gerald Marteena, F.A. Williams, R.E. Jones, B.W. Barnes, George Simkins, Margaret Tynes, Hal Sieber, Armand Richardson
and the Virgil Stroud scrapbooks. The University Archives tries to collect materials that are related to the African American experience in the Triad area. |
