Borrow Library Materials

An Aggie OneCard is required for students and employees to borrow materials. Non-university affiliated borrowers can apply for limited privileges. Library items are for the borrower’s personal use only, and are borrower’s responsibility until properly returned and may not be transferred to others. Lost or damaged materials will incur a replacement charge plus a $15.00 processing fee.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows patrons to borrow materials such as books, articles, conference papers etc. that are unavailable at F.D. Bluford Library, but are available at ILL partner libraries. This is a free service for items requested from among our ILL partners. Make an interlibrary loan request. Learn more about interlibrary loans.

F. D. Bluford Library fully supports distance and virtual learning initiatives. The Library has created a Laptop Lending Program that offers enrolled students the availability to checkout laptops for academic support and success. These devices can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Students living off-campus will be given priority.

Many item loans may be renewed once, prior to the due date, by telephone at 336.285.4164 or 888.246.1272, or online by signing in with your Aggie One username and password at https://ncat.account.worldcat.org/account/checkouts

Faculty may set aside course materials and make them available in a central location for their students through F.D. Bluford Library’s Course Reserve Service. Course Reserves is located in F.D. Bluford Library behind its Circulation Desk. Here are examples of items on Course Reserve now.

To place items on Course Reserves, follow the process below that applies to your course material.

COURSE RESERVE REQUEST FORM FOR LIBRARY-OWNED MATERIALS

  • Check our online catalog for the item you want to reserve for your course. Submit this electronic form if the item is not already held in the Reserves location.

COURSE RESERVE REQUEST FOR PERSONALLY-OWNED MATERIALS

  • Faculty who have personally owned materials or plan to use library-owned material for their course(s) may request to circulate those items through this service as well.
  • Download, complete, and print this form and bring it to F.D. Bluford Library along with the material you would like placed on Reserves.

You will receive emails when an item is overdue. Overdue item loans cannot be renewed. If you fail to return an item or contact us about a missing item, your library privileges may be suspended and replacement fees charged.

You will be billed replacement cost and a non-refundable $15.00 fee for library loan items not returned within 30 days (students) or 60 days (employees) and have your library borrowing privileges suspended.

Items returned in good condition after the deadline will be credited to your university account, minus the $15.00 non-refundable fee. Items that are not in good condition may be refused for return.

Outstanding fees may prevent you from registering for classes, participating in commencement, or receiving university transcripts.

Library loan item replacement costs and fees must be paid at the Cashier’s Office in the Dowdy Administration Building.

Faculty, staff, and students may use this form to send in requests for the library to purchase materials and access to online resources. For more information, please contact the Budget and Collections Administrator at 336.285.4191, or tbrussel@ncat.edu.

While F.D. Bluford Library can not make every requested purchase, the library will do its best to meet all patrons' information needs.

If a library loan item is stolen, you must provide a copy of a police report and are responsible for the replacement cost and fee.

Contact us by telephone at 336.285.4164 or 888.246.1272, via email at circ@ncat.edu, or in person at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.

If you find a lost library item, or recover a stolen one, please return it to us.

When needed urgently, loaned items can be recalled, or items can be held at the Circulation Desk.

You will receive an email when an item loaned to you is recalled. Please promptly return recalled items to the library within 24 hours of the notice. Fines up to $100.00 can be charged for failure to promptly return recalled items.

If you cannot find an item in the stacks that is listed as “available”, submit a search request [new online form].

If found, you will receive an email, the item will be placed “on hold” for you at the Circulation Desk, and you have up to seven days to pick it up.
