Library Database Usage Policy

Databases and electronic resources are provided for academic research by current authorized North Carolina A&T State University faculty, staff, students as well as library patrons who access the databases within the Library. In order to provide access to these databases, the Library must sign a contract, called a license agreement, which governs how a database may and may not be used. The clauses in the license agreements supersede the "fair use" provisions in copyright law. Please consult the individual database for specific instructions.

Permitted Uses
  • As an authorized user, you have the right to search the database, view the results and to extract ( by e-mailing, printing, or downloading) limited data or articles for personal academic use only.
NOTE: Downloading entire issues of a journal or entire collections of data is a violation of the copyright law and of N.C. A&T's licenses with publishers.
Prohibited Uses
  • You may not email or send a copy of an article or other material to someone at another institution.
  • You may not post licensed material on your web site.
  • You do not have the right to use the licensed material for commercial purposes.
  • You do not have the right to remove, modify, or obscure copyright notices or other notices and disclaimers.
VIOLATIONS
  • Violations may result in the publishers terminating access to the databases for the entire University community. Additionally, violations of the North Carolina A&T State University Computing and Networking Usage Policies can result in disciplinary action.
