The Conference
We are pleased to announce the 2017 Empirical Librarians Conference! We are a small one-day conference focused on librarians doing research and librarians supporting original research. Empirical librarians provides a great venue for learning, networking, and discussion about the many ways that research and librarianship thrive together.
Our program includes wonderful sessions on librarian research assessment, faculty relations, data librarianship, digital humanities, and scholarly communications. Come join us!

Sessions and Lightning Talks
Please visit our list of confirmed presentations for 2017.
We will be adding speakers, titles, and abstracts to this list as we receive confirmations and finalized abstracts, so check back to see more exciting topics!
Empirical Librarians 2017 is scheduled from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The program schedule will be forthcoming after all confirmed or revised proposals are received.
Preconference Activities
For the first time, Empirical Librarians will be offering lightweight pre-conference activities! Our preconference activities will be offered on Thursday, February 23, and require a separate RSVP. In the afternoon, we will host a free Librarian Write-In. A roundtable discussion about writing for publication will be followed by quiet writing sessions à la the shut up and write model, with breakout space for discussions about writing. Afterwards we will carpool to dinner for a dine-around. Thursday activities are dutch treat.
Location
The conference is held in the F. D. Bluford Library on the campus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. We are located at the corner of East Market St. and Laurel St. in Greensboro, NC. Parking (included in registration) will be in the campus parking deck, adjacent to the library. For GPS directions, enter 102 Laurel St., Greensboro, NC, 27411.
Area Hotels
As a mini-conference, Empirical Librarians does not have a hotel block available. If you want a nearby hotel and are flying in, we suggest looking at this list of hotels with airport shuttles to make your arrival easier.
If you are driving in, the Gate City Rd. area hotels are easy for arrival by interstate, or alternately the the downtown area hotels will be easiest to get to the host library the morning of the conference.
Call for Presenters
Proposal submissions are closed. All presentation proposals go through a double-blind peer review process.
