Alumni-Foundation Event Center
The dedication of the Alumni- Foundation Event Center occurred on December 16, 2005. With more than 15,000 square
feet of space, the facility is a venue for meetings, conferences and special events. North Carolina A&T
University Foundation, Inc. provided funds for the building. A highlight of the center is the 20 x 30 mural,
Graduation, by Joseph Holston.

Harrison Auditorium
The auditorium was constructed in 1939 and named for Richard Berry Harrison who portrayed “De Lawd” in Green
Pastures, a dramatic play written in 1929. During the summer for many years, Mr. Harrison taught drama
and directed plays on A&T’s campus.

The Oaks
The Oaks constructed in 1949 was once the official residence of the presidents and chancellors of the University.
Dr. Ferdinand Douglas Bluford, third president of the University, and his family were the first residents to
live there occupying the house in the early 1950’s. The house is named "The Oaks" because of the huge oak trees
surrounding it. It is now the home of the NC A&T Faculty Club.

PAUL ROBESON THEATRE
Robeson Theatre was constructed in 1969 and named in honor of Paul Robeson, the actor, singer, writer, and
lawyer. The foyer of the theatre was named in honor of Dr. John M. Kilimanjaro, former A&T faculty
member and founder and publisher of the Carolina Peacemaker newspaper. The theatre is the home of the
award winning Richard B. Harrison Players.
