Library (Information Literacy) Instruction

"Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the
ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."

The Library Instruction Program provides library instruction (formal and informal) based upon the needs of students, faculty, and staff. The mission of instructional services is to promote effective use of library resources and technology. Instruction is presented through lectures and demonstrations to respond to the total educational process of the academic community. The F.D. Bluford Library Instruction Program's goals and objectives incorporate the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Information Literacy Competency Standard's with various teaching strategies and methodologies designed to meet the individual differences in learning, including level, style, and culture.
