Policy for Theft, Attempted Theft and Mutilation of Library Materials
 
If a patron is stopped at the security check-point by the book detection system and found to have materials in his/her possession that have not been properly checked out, the staff at the security desk will record the details of the incident including time, date, social security number, name, and address of patron.

For attempted theft of library materials, the offender will receive a letter of warning from the library detailing the seriousness of the offense, a copy will be submitted to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Head of Public Services (Library) and the Dean of Library Services.

For mutilation of materials, patrons are charged the replacement cost of the material(s) plus the processing fee. If the offender is faculty or staff a letter will be sent to the offender with a copy to the supervisor and respective Vice Chancellor.

Second offenses could result in revocation of all library privileges and/or trial before the judicial tribunal.
