How do you put all of these factors together and write an evaluation? Let's give it a try:

Kardiner' book, The Mark of Oppression, is one of eight books the author has written on the individual and society, and it focuses specifically on the African American and the impact of oppression. Kardiner served as a psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital, a clinical Professor of psychiatry at Colombia, and founder and director of the Colombia Psychoanalytic Institute.

Published in 1951 by W. W. Norton, a well known and established publisher, the book chronicles years of research by Kardiner and Ovesey in which they had the opportunity to interview, observe and treat African Americans who suffer from discrimination. This very personal involvement enabled them to provide a detailed account of the psychological ramifications of oppression, discrimination, and slavery.

The New York Times Book Review, an excellent and credible source for book reviews, says that as of 1951 "There's no other work that tells us so much about the psychological waste resulting from discrimination." (Merton, 1951)

Kardiner's credentials and clinical expertise, the quality of the publisher and the book review all support the contention that the book looks like a valuable source for your paper and, since it is free from academic jargon, relatively easy reading.
