So How is all this Information Linked Together?

The Web is a gigantic collection of information linked by means of HyperText Markup Language (HTML). Information can exist on computers on the Internet anywhere in the world and can be text, audio, graphics, animation, video, and/or photographs. If you want to know more about a subject and it is linked, you can follow the link to learn more. That link may lead to another and another, until you pinpoint exactly the information you need or find yourself hopelessly sidetracked. What is neat about this is you can choose (or not choose) when and where to follow links.

The Web is based on client/server architecture. Your computer runs client software (like Netscape or Microsoft Explorer) to find and display WWW documents. The Web server contains the electronic document you seek. The client program on your computer initiates the request for the information, and the Web server sends the requested document to your computer.
