Consider which of the following categories of reference sources might provide useful information for your paper/project:
- Is there relevant information in an online encyclopedia such as Britannica Online? Or can you locate useful information in other encyclopedia sources?
- Is there a subject source or specialized encyclopedia in print and/or on the Internet for your subject?
- Does a specialized or scholarly journal include articles on your topic?
- Are there pertinent articles in current newspapers or general magazines?
- What people are important for your topic?
- Is a specialized atlas or collections of maps available?
- There may be one or more special interest associations related to your search. Have you looked in a directory online or in print?
- Will another type of directory help you?
- What source might provide a useful quotation?
- Are there relevant statistics online and/or in print?
