Using EndNote X3®
Calendar of Endnote® Workshops (PDF)

EndNote® X3 helps you to keep and manage your references (citations) to books, articles and other research sources electronically, and then to insert them quickly into documents as footnotes, bibliographies, and as in-text citations. EndNote® X3 is bibliographic software for reference management. This workshop will cover a basic introduction to EndNote® X3. You will learn the technical requirements for optimizing the software’s capabilities, core concept definitions, three methods of entering references, how to export a bibliography in one of over 4,000 styles, and how to maximize EndNote® X3’s potential through the CiteWhileYouWrite® feature.

Under current licensing arrangements, members of the North Carolina A&T State University community may have one copy of the EndNote® X3 software to use at home. Anyone wishing a copy of the software must bring their flash drive, CD-R, or CD-RW to this workshop or to the Reference Desk of F. D. Bluford Library. A copy will be made as part of the workshop or while you wait at the Reference Desk. When you obtain your copy, you will be asked to sign for it and provide an e-mail address so we can contact you when a new edition is available.
Note: Workshops are approximately 90 minutes

Staying Alert! Alerting Services/RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
Calendar of Alerting Services/RSS Workshops (PDF)
Alerting services can save you time and effort. This “push” technology keeps you up to date with cutting-edge research without requiring you to perform your searches every day, week, or month. Alerting services, provided by many of the Library’s web-based research databases, are available via email or RSS feeds. Most databases providers offer one or more types of alerts:
  • Your search criteria
  • Topic
  • Journal Title
  • Citation

  • This workshop will focus on those Alerting Services relevant to your academic discipline. You will learn how to set up an account with a database; register to a newsreader (Bloglines) to receive your RSS alerts; and set up several alerts from selected databases.
Note: Please select a news reader such as Google Reader, Bloglines or any RSS reader (aggregator) of your choice and create an account BEFORE class .
Note: Workshops are approximately 60 minutes
